EDUCATIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Cole Series Parkinson's Educational Program

First Wednesday of each month. A monthly Parkinson's Educational Program provided by The Cole Center.  Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, 2:00-3:00pm. Register at https://www.UTMedicalCenter.org/events or email Paige Huggler at phuggler@utmck.edu

Caregiver Community Program

This program is led by Laura Clabo from 10am-11am at Faith Lutheran Church in Farragut, TN. This is a safe space to connect with and learn from others on similar journeys. They meet the third Friday of each month. Event calendar link:  https://www.UTMedicalCenter.org/calendar

Advanced Disease Community Program

Typically this meets on the 4th Friday of each month from 2:00pm-3:00pm via ZOOM but check the calendar page for specific dates each month. Register at https://www.UTMedicalCenter.org/events  Led by Laura Clabo. A ZOOM link will be emailed to you the morning of, along with other information about this program.

Therapeutic Singing

This event is for those with Parkinson's and their caregivers. Led by Cecilia Stair, certified music therapist. Register at: https://www.UTMedicalCenter.org/events


They meet:

1. Every Friday from 10:00am-11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church, 226 Jamestowne Blvd., Farragut, TN

2. Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Northside Christian Church, 4008 Tazewell Pike in Fountain City, TN

Our Lunch Bunch meets the last Wednesday of the month around noon. We usually meet at restaurants but have gathered for special events as well.  We also meet biweekly via Google Meet (similar to ZOOM). Text or call Pat Frye at 865-228-4488 or email annapatfrye46@gmail.com for more information.

Equine Therapy

The impact of horses on people is no secret. Equine therapy for mental health has endless benefits. Equine therapy can benefit mental health by fostering emotional connection and trust with horses, promoting self-awareness, and offering a calming and therapeutic environment for individuals to work through their challenges.

Art Therapy

 This arts program is designed for adults with Parkinson's disease and their care partners. It's a free initiative that provides a welcoming space to express feelings, emotions, and daily concerns through art. All necessary supplies will be provided at no cost. 

Registration is required. The class is led by Annamaria Gunlach (Art Therapist). The Tennessee Art Commission, The KMA,  and PJ Parkinson's sponsor this program. For further information, please call Tina at 865-621-7666.
